The 2026 Christmas Gift Guide: Sorted by Person, Budget and Time Left

Christmas shopping goes wrong in the same way every year. You leave it, then panic, then buy something safe. Safe gifts are the ones that get politely thanked for and quietly forgotten. This guide exists so that doesn't happen to you in 2026.

It's organised the way people actually shop — by the person, by the budget, by how much time you have left. Bookmark it. We'll be adding to it through the autumn.

Start here: the one date that matters

Order by Friday 28 November for Christmas.

Here's the arithmetic behind that, so you can judge it for yourself. We process orders in 1–3 business days, and transit runs 5–15 business days. Worst case that's about 18 business days from checkout to doorstep. Working backwards from 24 December, the last comfortable order date is the end of November — which happens to fall the day after Thanksgiving.

Order earlier and you have room for a return or an exchange if it isn't right. Order later and you're gambling. We'd rather tell you plainly than let you find out in the third week of December. Shipping is free on every US order, and returns are open for 30 days.

Shop by who you're buying for

For him

The perennial hard case. The trick is specificity — a gift that names something about him beats a gift that's merely expensive. Start with Gifts for Him, or go straight to our guide to the best tech gifts for men if he's the gadget one in the family.

For her

Gifts for Her leans toward objects with a bit of craft to them — things that look considered on a shelf rather than useful in a drawer.

For the person who has everything

This is the category we were built for. The answer is never "more" — it's stranger. Our guide to gifts for people who have everything is the place to start, and it's the post our customers send to each other most.

For the music person

Music Gifts runs from a $39 retro desk speaker to a walnut belt-drive turntable. If you're deciding between them, we wrote a whole piece on how to choose a retro wooden Bluetooth speaker — the single safest gift in that collection.

For the kitchen one

Kitchen & Foodie Gifts. Skip the utensils. Buy the thing that makes an occasion out of a Tuesday.

For the kids

Gifts for Kids — and a genuine word of advice: order these first. Kids' gifts are the ones you cannot be late on.

For a host, or a new home

Housewarming Gifts, plus our guide to housewarming gifts that aren't another candle.

Shop by budget

Under $50. The honest sweet spot for colleagues, secret santa, cousins and the people you like but don't know well. Impressive Gifts Under $50 holds over a hundred options and none of them look like a budget gift.

Around $75. The main-present range for most people. Our guide to the best gifts under $75 is built for exactly this.

Over $100. The one big gift. Tech & Gadget Gifts and Home Decor & Lighting Gifts are where the pieces worth wrapping properly live.

A short method, if you're stuck

Name the room, not the person. Where will this gift physically live? A desk, a kitchen counter, a nightstand, a garage. Rooms narrow a catalogue faster than personalities do.

Buy for the hobby they talk about, not the one they do. People are more sentimental about the interest they wish they had more time for than the one they're already good at.

One specific thing beats three generic ones. A single object with a story is remembered. A bundle of small safe items is not.

If two options feel equal, pick the one that's harder to buy. Not more expensive — harder to find. That's the whole difference between a present and a purchase.

What's coming

We'll be adding guides through October and November — stocking fillers that aren't junk, gifts for coworkers, and a proper last-minute list as the cutoff gets close. If you want the shortcut in the meantime, the Gift Finder narrows the whole catalogue down in about four questions.

And the one thing worth repeating: 28 November. Everything is easier on the other side of that date.
