I think it can be used as a substitute for an axe. It's too heavy for women to use, as it might strain their wrists. Still, it's not crude and is quite excellent.
I haven't tried carving the bone piece, but it feels sharp and sturdy when touched by hand.
It's as heavy as I expected. However, the weight is all concentrated on the blade rather than the handle, making the handle feel quite flimsy. I think I'll need to get used to it when doing production work.

It’s not stained with some mystery fluid or used it’s flipping oil to keep the blade from rusting.Also, it does not stain. It’s amazing. What a little soap and water will do. Some of the comments almost kept me from buying it.Only drawback it’s not full tang but it is heavy and durable I would re-sharpen it out of the box and it’s a decent knife for the price definitely a 9 out of 10

This is extremely sharp, good weight and a balanced feel. It handles beef and pork bones with ease. Very classical look really beautiful. I could see this becoming a family heirloom
I really love the look of this knife. It also does a great job chopping veggies. When it came it had a brown oil/film over it that took about three washes for me to remove. Also I want to point out that the top portion of the knife was silver colored and not the dark gray/black color as pictured.Overall I love the knife and am quite happy with it.
