I purchased this item as a gift for a friend's birthday. He hadn't seen any advertisement for this item. He really liked it. Don't know if he has actually used it or not.
Not really worth the money. I used it on a cold BBQ grill. It does remove grime and build up WHERE IT CAN REACH. I flipped the grills over to do the underside, but there are cross over rods on that side which makes it impossible to clean the underside completely. The secret is "where it can reach". Since it is contained in a metal roller it cannot reach between the rods. So the bottom and top can be cleaned, but not the between the rods. The other model can reach between, but it is wire so in effect it can leave wire on the rods which may stick to the food. I also tried cleaning the walls and bottom. Again, where it reached it did OK. I have a wire brush which does better. And no matter how long a BBQ has not been heated, there is wet grease on the bottom catch plate and drain tray. The Giddy Up was absolutely useless for that mess. After hosing the plate and drain tray with Dawn, a putty knife does better. I also have a BBQ Daddy which you dip in cold water and scrub the grills with while they are HOT. Much better. But it is messy, drains to the lower panel and into the catch tray. Between the two, I prefer the BBQ Daddy rather than the Giddy UP.Giddy Up is safe to use. It does not spin at a high rate so it is easy to guide and does not drag your hand around. I would not grab it while it was spinning, not that safe. I was able to clean it by setting it in a sink (or bucket or tray outside), spray a lot of Dawn on it and wait for 20 minutes. I use the sink sprayer and the a small metal wire brush to scrub the wheel and it came out looking good. It also comes in a plastic bag. Save the bag and when cleaning is done put the brush back on the handle and store the entire thing in the bag. If the bag gets dirty inside, turn it inside out, clean with Dawn, dry, place the unit in it.I am returning it.
Still new but it seems to do what it advertised. Simple device that is well built.

OK I will give it 5 stars. It does indeed do exactly what it advertises. At first, I was able to clean off cheapo-type wire grills easily. Worked fine.But I also own a Weber upper-level grill, and a RecTeq smoker grill. Both have heavier grates and a big 21 lb steel square sear-plate for the RecTeq smoker grill.So… how did it work? Pretty darned good! Tips:Heat off the grills/grates at high heat after you finish with your food, and then let the grates FULLY COOL! That’s important!Then, learn with it. Play with how you angle the motorized head as you work with different grill surfaces.The thing DOES WORK GREAT! So, if you’re willing to burn off your grill grates at high heat, and then let them FULLY cool, and then play with how you angle the unit, you absolutely WILL get a clean grill grate! I do!Buy yourself a replacement roller unit too! I haven’t had to either dishwasher-clean it or replace the head unit yet… long way away from that… But so far the GiddyUp is a thumbs-up from me.I grill a LOT… so yep I am good to go with this thing. Glad I have it.

My husband, the outside chef will not use a metal scraper. He is concerned about small wires that break off and could be injected, the plastic just smooths the burnt foods. His implement of choice has been a metal spatula.I've seen this in the store and it was given as his birthday gift. It is a bit pricy and I am happy to say he likes it. He likes that it can go in the dishwasher!However what it really did was degrease the roller, when I was checking the cleaning I had black crumbles on my fingers that were not greasy. But hot water rinsed it all away and it looked brand newWe are pleased and if given the opportunity I would buy it again.
this worked very well! The design is awesome, I like the brush style, splash guard and the even the charge indicator is cool. It's in the shape of a horse shoe and as it fills the horse shoe lights up. This made quick work of my SS grill rack. I was able to take the brush and unit apart and clean in my kitchen sink. well built, easy to remove and reinstall the brush head. I'm very impressed with this product. I was not happy with the price, but the $50 alternative was not near as good quality.
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Marketing. The commercials make it look easy to really, really clean the grill.Functionality:Works well, but not that well. After subsequent uses, the grill gets more clean each time.Durability:Too early to tell. That said, I messaged the seller and learned it only has a 30 day warranty.Build quality:Seems really solid.Design:Well designed. It even has a metal "bar" across the back side to keep the "chunks" of gunk from coming back at me.Ease of cleaning:Great, usually rinses off nicely, but being able to run it through the dishwasher works really well.Ease of use:It needs to be cleaned after every use. The other "hitch" is I didn't know it couldn't be used on a hot grill. Fortunately, I read the instructions before using. That means I have to go back to the grill later to clean after it has cooled down.
1) Charger not included, and that is ok. But no modern smart charger or battery pack I have worked! Had to dig up an old dumb cube to charge it. That means the USB-C port doesn't have the proper ship to communicate its charging needs at all, expecting a dumb cube to pass power through without checking if it would damage the device.2) While charging, blinking lights were stuck at the same 25% level for hours. Then I disconnected, turned it on, and saw that it was fully charged.3) But! I ran it ~60s, it went from 100% to 25%. Not enough time to clean any grill.4) There is no way this is spinning 350 RPM, i.e. ~6 per second.5) Tried for 10s on a small section of my grill, couldn't clean anything. It couldn't even take away a few burnt crumbs that were on my stainless still grates after I had already cleaned them last tim. In their video where it leaves a shiny grill behind as you go must have been either edited or the grill must have been just dusted with some black dust.6) If you apply pressure, then it slows down to a point it cannot physically clean. If you hold it loose, then the chain acts like a wheel, the whole thing just travels along the grate, therefore no rubbing action. You need to hold it down with just enough pressure to have it scrub the grate without slowing down and without travelling along.I was hopeful, but man, such a #fail... :(
