Little Mechanic: 61-Piece Truck Engine Set | Educational STEM Workshop

Fuel your toddler's curiosity and fine motor skills with the Little Mechanic™ Truck Engine Toy Set. Designed for aspiring engineers aged 3–5, this interactive service station offers a realistic "hands-on" introduction to vehicle maintenance. Unlike static toy cars, this set is a fully immersive take-apart workshop where kids can perform "repairs" like a real professional—from checking the oil dipstick to replacing spark plugs and removing the motor.

With 61 interactive pieces, including a working steering wheel, simulated gear shift (P, R, N, D), and light-up headlights, this set transforms any playroom into a high-stakes auto garage. It’s the perfect blend of sensory play and early STEM education, teaching problem-solving and vocabulary through immersive role-play.

Key Features & Learning Benefits

  • Immersive Repair Tasks: Includes realistic maintenance actions: open the engine cover, replace the battery, repair headlights, check the oil, and jacking up the vehicle.
  • Interactive Driving Console: Features a push-to-start engine button, hazard lights, a steering wheel with a loud horn, and a functional 4-gear shifter with sound effects.
  • Take-Apart Mechanics: Comes with 28 bolts, 4 spin screws, and a child-safe screwdriver, allowing kids to disassemble and rebuild the entire motor.
  • Smart Storage & Portability: Designed with a built-in storage drawer for small parts and a sturdy handle with wheels, so your "mobile mechanic" can move their shop anywhere.
  • Safe & Non-Toxic: Meets all ASTM F963-17 and CPSIA safety standards; made of high-quality, smooth-edged plastic that is safe for little hands.
  • Bonus Remote Key Fob: Includes a simulated RC car key that locks/unlocks the engine with realistic "chirp" sounds.

Neat little toy, keeping it.

Just got it and so far so good. Looks better than the chinese knockoffs. Instructions tells you what to do to put it together but not how to do it which is kind of pointless. I went by looking at the photos. Waited a week to receive it and then it gets delayed an additional 3 days. I was disappointed but not a reason to throw a fist. Just be patient.

Hours of play

This car set up has entertained my grandson for months and is still providing him with fun and challenge. Its one of his favorite toys and doesnt seem to have lost its novelty.

Perfect for a busy/engineering kid

I hesitate to call this a toy. It is educational and interactive, and my STEM-forward grandson (5yo) LOVES IT! It's very well constructed and sturdy. My only peeve was the instructions...or lack there of. The "instructions" are for the child, and how to disassemble the engine. However, you, the parent, have to first assemble it. I literally went to the end of the kid's instructions and worked my way backwards to put it together!

Fantastic hands on toy!!!

My child is a super hands-on building and problem solver and this toy seems to meet all of the criteria. I bought it for my nephew who is three going on for and it’s a super great toy for hands-on experience. The truck is big study and perfect for small hands and the tools and the engine parts are easy to handle very well designed for young children my nephew loves great for his motor skills coordination and early stem thinking highly recommended for age groups 3 to 5.

Lots of fun for lots of time

Bought this for my 3 yo gson and he’s had many hours of fun. Definitely needs an adult to get things going but after that, it’s a one on one fun.

Great toy for playing & learning

This truck has been the perfect toy for a 2-3yo with natural affinity to anything with tires, screws, bolts, etc. Grandpa is teaching toddler all the appropriate expressions & sounds to make when drop/misplace a screw (uh-oh, oh no) and to look at an issue that needs solving (HMmmm). It’s quite entertaining!

Cute toy

Bought this for my 4yo birthday. He loves playing with it and taking it apart. Had small chokeable pieces so definitely observe if your child is one that puts things in their mouth. Great, hard plastic. Took about 20min to put together. We bought it in September, put batteries in it and it still works great. Great toy for an older child who won't put smaller pieces in mouth.

Our 6-year-old grandson loved this!

We got this for our 6-year-old grandson who LOVES trucks and taking things apart. He jumped right in and loved it. It looks a little bit of time to figure out where things went, the instructions could have been clearer.

Kids like it, some durability issues

The kids (7 and 3) like this. It makes car noise sounds and has parts that can be removed. From a parent perspective, hearing the car alarm chirp and the engine noise get grating after a bit. Also, the hood brackets come off too easlily and not easy for kids to put back on their own.

Taken my grandson from 9mos to 3yrs so far‼️

Really cute, pretty sturdy and great learning, coordination and pretending experience. My grandson loves this big rig engine and it has sounds and lights that are exciting for him. I think he's had it since Christmas 2023, and he stood and held the tools, pressed the buttons. Then he was able to use the handles to push it, lift the hood, work on the engine, and now he's turning 3, and still loves playing with it. Good toy👍

Amazing toy! Great for toddler entertainment and hand/eye coordination

This was a Christmas gift for our toddlers. They love taking things apart especially toys that make noise…another big win! This is perfect for them and they spend hours playing with it.My youngest is growing so fast he isn’t always coordinated. He loves focusing on taking the engine apart. I’ve never seen an all 3 yr old focus on a toy so long. They love the fast they can roll it around with them. It isn’t a heavy toy either and my youngest can pick it up. They love pretending it’s a truck and can drive (mom has a truck too).Putting it together was VERY EASY! Instructions were easy to follow.

More to love:
